Board-Eligible Cardiovascular Nurses to become clinical cardiovascular nurses
and leaders in the field of Cardiovascular Nursing,

teach state-of-the-art, evidence-based prevention, evaluation and management of
patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases and
anomalies,
§
and to
ensure program graduates are capable and competent independent clinical CVN
practitioners as outlined by the ACCN and the and American Board of
Cardiovascular Medicine and Credentialing’s (ABCM) Program Requirements for CVN
Nurse Residency Education in Cardiovascular Disease and anomalies.
The ACCN’s CVN
Fellowship Training Program values integrity and commitment to patients, a
passion for life-long learning, and vigorous pursuit of advancements in basic
science, translational and clinical research.
The Level I CVN
Fellowship Training Program is a one-year, ACCN-accredited program with six
months classroom and clinical education and six months clinical rotations under
the direction of the CVN Fellowship Program Director and selected faculty
members. After completion of
the Level I CVN Fellowship Training Program, Fellows may then pursue advanced
subspecialty training in cardiovascular critical care sciences, interventional
cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiovascular imaging, and cardiac
rehabilitation.
The patient care clinic
and laboratory rotations for CVN Fellows will follow the ACCN guidelines and
comply with all ACCN requirements. At the completion of the CVN Fellowship
training, CVN Fellows will meet all the requirements and proficiency for
certification in cardiovascular diseases and anomalies, as determined by the
American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine (ABCM).
